At MG Duff International we’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and contributing to a greener planet. We have streamlined our production with a high priority on the environment. Additionally to help offset our carbon footprint, we’ve initiated a tree-planting program, actively restoring forests and creating a healthier ecosystem for future generations.
Environmental Life Cycle of Our Sacrificial Anodes
Raw Materials
  • Iron: Abundant (5.6% of Earth's crust) with an infinite lifecycle. Recovered, recycled, and reused after anode removal.
  • Aluminium: Makes up 8% of Earth's crust and is a highly recyclable "green metal" that retains its strength and reliability with each reuse.
  • Zinc: The least abundant (0.007%), but fully recyclable without losing properties, supporting a circular economy.
  • Magnesium: Comprising 2% of Earth's crust, it's the most sustainable metal, being 100% recyclable and naturally dissolving.
Design & Sales
We prioritize aluminium products over zinc due to their greater environmental benefits.

Aluminium Anodes vs Zinc Anodes:
  • Over 3 times the electrochemical capacity, providing more protection with less material.
  • Corrode slower, lasting longer.
  • Lighter to ship, reducing carbon emissions.
  • Easier and safer to install.
  • Made from one of Earth's most abundant metals.
  • Cost-effective and economical to recycle.
Production
  • Compliant with all relevant legislation, including Environmental Permitting (permit CDC.EPP.174.08).
  • Operate under a UKAS, ISO14001 Management System.
  • Monitor energy usage with carbon offsetting.
  • Minimize fossil fuel use by focusing on renewable energy.
  • Regular maintenance ensures equipment operates at peak efficiency.
  • Comprehensive waste monitoring and recycling program.
Suppliers
  • Pre-qualification process requiring adherence to our supplier code of conduct, including environmental management.
  • Regular ESG reviews of suppliers and couriers, aiming to prioritize partnerships with those committed to clear green agendas.
Packaging & Transportation
  • Reuse packaging where possible, including repurposing waste cardboard into recyclable padding.
  • Use FSC-certified wooden pallets and crates from sustainable sources, which are reusable, upcyclable, and recyclable.
  • Monitor waste production with goals to reduce it.
  • Magnesium and aluminium products are lighter to transport, reducing carbon emissions.
  • Prioritize road or sea transport over air, which generates significantly less CO2e.
End Product Use
Our products serve as environmental protection tools, extending the life of steel structures by preventing or slowing down oxidation and degradation, commonly seen as rust.

Corrosion is a major challenge in the maritime industry, costing an estimated $50-80 billion annually.
End of Life Disposal
Our packaging and delivery notes provide clear recycling instructions.

We also offer a recycling service, allowing customers to return end-of-life products directly to us for responsible disposal and recycling.
